No. 3019 GEKOM  The GEKOM is a robust stratum compass available at a moderate price according to the measuring method of Prof. Dr. Clar allowing the measurement of the azimuth of dip and angle of dip in one single operation. As the vertical circles are visible from above, the azimuth of dip and angle of dip can be read at a glance.The upper part of the housing can easily be removed for the adjustment of declination and inclination.  Dial is graduated in 2 degree increments, with numbers every 20 degrees and the cardinal points at the appropriate position. Swedish steel needle, with friction free sapphire jewel bearing, damped so it comes to rest within 4 seconds. The clinometer is graduated in 2 degree increments from 0 to 90 degrees. The base plate of the compass has map scales for 1:24,000, 1:25,000, and 1:50,000 scale maps. Other scales on the base plate include a 1/20th inch scale, and a millimeter scale. Declination is adjustable, using the special tool provided with each compass. Luminous points allow use of the compass in low light conditions. Hand-bearing precision compasses The KB-14 hand-bearing compass is an excellent tool for foresters, surveyors and
geologists and many others. Suunto bearing compasses are designed to combine extreme accuracy with ease and speed of
operation. Suunto KB-14 Story Suunto bearing compasses are designed to combine extreme accuracy with ease and speed of operation. The accuracy
is 1/3°, graduation 1/2° and the compass weighs only 115 g. The flat, compact housing has no protruding or
adjustable parts and are designed to stand up to heavy-duty wear. The compasses are water resistant.
The cards of these compasses are immersed in a special dampening fluid that ensures vibrationless, smooth movement.
They are pivoted on polished sapphire tips. The veering assembly is to all intents and purposes subject to no wear and the liquid remains clear and its viscosity low under all conditions.
The compasses have been given permanent anti-static treatment. The lens apertures of the Suunto KB-14 and KB-20 types
are restricted horizontally by a column, which automatically centers the eye on the optical axis, thus eliminating
parallax.
There is also a rubber cover accessory for all the Suunto KB-14 versions that is made of a saltwater and UV-resistant
mixture of EPDM and natural rubber.
